What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Tutoring was a significant part of my Year 12 journey and definitely contributed to my overall success and confidence. My tutors were passionate and confident in their knowledge, and as a result enjoyed teaching their subjects. Similarly, I enjoy tutoring as a way of diving deeper into subjects I am passionate about, which allows me to have a great impact on my students.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Students usually struggle with answering the most difficult questions, leading them to find a tutor. Hence, a tutor must know the niche concepts within a subject in order to analyse and breakdown complex questions to the student. The difficult "curveball" questions involve concepts that stretch beyond the textbook, and a tutor's knowledge of these concepts will lead the student to the greatly improve. However, a tutor must realise that students come to tutoring because they are struggling. Hence, having the patience and empathy towards students is vital, which is one of my strengths as a tutor

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

One of my tutors in Year 12 told us that confidence is the most important thing a student can have. This has proven to be true in my experience. Once I gained confidence in my knowledge, I was able to experiment with answering questions in different ways, deepening my understanding. As a tutor, the most important thing to do is inspire confidence in the student. Further, enforcing homework is necessary as it leads to more practice, which increases confidence, leading to better outcomes. As a tutor, I will be firm with homework completion, for the student's benefit.
