What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The most fulfilling aspect of being a tutor is to watch the gradual transformation in the academic abilities of students, as your guidance and resources slowly manifest themselves as improvements in their development. Lesson after lesson I can truly see the joy that students develop for their subjects as their understanding and skills grow, and seeing them fall in love with something that they once had trouble with is what brings me joy as a tutor as I know that I have succeeded. I take pride in customizing my approach to help students turn their academic life around and feel more confident.

My biggest strength as a tutor is my adaptability. I know the importance of putting the student first and tailoring my own methods of communication and guidance to best suit the needs of my student, showing understanding and awareness that I am here to help others and thus it is up to me to cater to their needs. I also know the power of having genuine passion for a subject, encouraging exploration and curiosity, making the learning meaningful so students want to try their best. So when I tutor, I always have a smile on my face, and always communicate in an energetic way to inspire students.

A great tutor should be an all-around mentor, someone who not only provides academic support but also helps students build resilience, confidence, and a positive outlook on learning. This involves fostering true critical thinking and problem solving skills to ensure students understand the ‘why’ behind each problem, not just the answer. A good tutor shouldn’t tell the students what to do, yet rather guide them along each problem so that they become independent learners who can detect their own errors. Finally, providing multiple learning styles is important to adapt to the needs of students.
