What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
In my experience supporting students both in and outside of school, I've found the best feeling to be when the 'click' happens. A concept or process that was once confusing is suddenly met with a 'Eureka!' moment where I've been able to re-contextualize or explain the process to the student.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am knowledgeable, patient, determined and an active listener, among other traits. I feel these are the major strengths that benefit me as a tutor. I listen to what the student is saying to learn what they are struggling to understand or want to learn to do - I then leverage my experience engaging with the Australian Curriculum to tailor material to match what they will be seeing in school.
I am determined to support students to achieve their best, and firmly believe that any student can see success academically (whatever that means to them).
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Listen to them - as mentioned, good tutors will listen and understand what students are confused about, struggling with, or wanting to learn.
Build rapport - Rapport is a crucial element in all learning, and a positive, professional relationship can help foster an environment in which learning is maximized.
Give accurate information - It is far better to admit a gap in my knowledge that authoritatively state something I am unsure of. This also helps to role model positive behaviour for the student to replicate in class and into the future as well.
