What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The ability to assist students overcome what is typically an incredibly stressful aspect of their daily life. Seeing the growth in the student and what they can achieve, successful or not, is what makes it worth it for me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths as a tutor lies in my ability to simplify problems and provide examples. I explain my thought process when addressed with a problem and explain step by step how I set out my solutions.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Provide confidence. There is nothing more demoralising than the tutor not being able to provide the student with confidence that a solution is achievable by them.

About Kotaro

What you see is what you get

I am a graduate engineer looking to utilise my skills in any capacity whilst I transition into a career early 2025. I am passionate about rebound beach volleyball, optimisation, video/board games and high fantasy novels. I am most confident in my ability to tutor Mathematics (all levels), Physics, Japanese and Engineering however, I know my way around other subjects as well.

My Tuition History

I graduated high school with an official OP 3 (ATAR 95) and an unofficial OP 1 (ATAR 99*). I have since graduated university with an honours bachelor degree in engineering and a diploma in Japanese. I graduated high school at Grace Lutheran College in Rothwell and have worked at the library as an academic tutor up until 2024. I am well rounded in assisting students from grades 7-12, in a one to many scenario, with homework and assessment pieces.

My Tutoring Philosophy

I don't believe a tutor should be able to rifle off an answer to any question in a matter of minutes (and I certainly don't expect a student to do so either). What is important, is that the process of discovering a solution is genuine and repeatable so that one can solve most problems independently, in future. It is these processes, tricks of the trade, that I intend to pass on to students.
