What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One thing that I love is the fact that I can share my enthusiasm for maths with other people. I can bring my own strategies into this type of workplace. This is what I find very exciting about tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think one of the abilities that I completely trust myself with is responsibility, I ponder a few times before deciding on a task but when I do make a decision, I will with my entire ability be responsible.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
- Be constantly available( atleast via email) to clear doubts. I was at this stage with my tutors as well, I was well supported by my connection with my tutors. Therefore I do recognize the need for tutors to connect with the students.
- Have genuine care for the students. I think its really important for tutors to treat their work as something very crucial for the development of students. What I mean is tutors should not only treat tutoring as a job but also go beyond that and have genuine care for the students to do well.

What we really need to work on is speed. Once we reach a certain level of understanding we really need to push for speed in MM.
We had good use of the CAS this session. Spreadsheets were converted to functions.

Same thing as last time, practise sacs really will help.
He actively completed the homework assigned to him over the holidays. He is very quick on the uptake these days.

Nothing really in terms of needing improvement, but it would really help if James can get some practise sacs from his teachers. Textbook questions are completely different from the SACs.
Leaf plots and other graphs went really well. James was pretty well versed in this. He was faster than me in picking up some concepts.

For homework i asked him to do the entirety of chapter 1. I would really really advise him to finish atleast 3 chapters by looking at the area of study in the vcaa website. This should allow him to find out what chapters to do next. I want to see how many chapters he can finish before I meet him when I get back. If he can finish a lot of textbook chapters we can start actual exam prep. Thanks.
