What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy building relationships with my students and seeing them grow and progress over time. It's very rewarding to see students grasp a concept they previously struggled with and watch their confidence grow as they master new material. Tutoring is also a satisfying job knowing my teaching and guidance positively impacts someone's education.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
One of my key strengths as a tutor is adaptability. I can personalise my teaching to suit the student's learning styles and needs. Whether they require a detailed explanation or additional examples, I believe I can tailor myself to best support their understanding.
Patience is another strength that I bring to tutoring. I can explain concepts as many times as necessary without becoming tired or frustrated. I want what is best for my student so this ensures they can learn at their own pace without feeling pressured or rushed.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment is very important to ensure students learn to their fullest capacity. Being open allows students to express their concerns and ask questions, and allows tutors to help clarify concepts. This also boosts confidence and self-esteem and makes learning enjoyable for students.

In our lesson, we went over Tyler's recent examination to solidify his understanding of questions he got incorrect. He demonstrated a good understanding of most questions after going through the errors, showing that he is learning from his mistakes. We also went through a quick worksheet on area and volume as his teacher stated he needed more focus on this topic.
Tyler's conceptual understanding with solving exam style questions is solid, but practicing more multi-step problems and word problems will help him approach complex tasks with greater confidence. Revisiting the formulas for composite shapes and ensuring he can break them into simpler parts could also further strengthen his problem-solving skills. But overall, his ability to recall key concepts for both 2D and 3D shapes indicates that he has a strong foundation for moving into Year 9.

Today, we continued to work on the questions Tyler had trouble answering during his exam to solidify his understanding of topics he struggled with. He was quickly able to pick up the concepts and utilise the formulas we went through to answer questions he got incorrect in his exam, as well as similar questions I prepared for him.
I recommend Tyler go through more questions similar to those from his exam to further his comfortability with answering these types of questions. With this, he will be able to familiarise himself with what will be potentially examined in future years and be confident in solving them.

Today we continued going over Tyler's recent assessment and working through the questions he had difficulty with during the exam. We focused largely on inequalities as he still had trouble understanding the concepts of it. Though he is understanding how to solve inequalities, more practise will allow Tyler to answer them on a deeper level.
When going through inequalities, Tyler had difficulty in understanding why and when the signs would flip. After thorough explanation, he was able to figure out that when multiplying and dividing negative numbers to both sides of the equations, you had to flip the direction of the sign. I highly recommend Tyler to practise inequality questions in his spare time to fully grasp this concept.

Following the marked release of his final assessment, we went through the questions that Tyler had trouble answering on exam day. Tyler was confident in the algebra questions, which I'm happy with because we spent a lot of time going over the content before his exam, as well as the fraction, decimal and percentage questions.
Tyler had difficulty answering portions of his exam, especially in the SA/volume section and the inequality sections. To further enhance his skills in these topics, I recommend Tyler to go back to the HW I set him when covering these topics, and also revise the assessment paper once again. These topics are crucial in his future studies of maths and will benefit him if he understands everything now, before entering Year 9.
