What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy building confidence in kids and getting to see their excitement when they finally understand a difficult concept. Often kids would come to peer tutoring at school confused and stressed. It was always lovely to get to see them leave feeling calmer and more capable to complete their work.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My primary strength as tutor is my communication skills. Whilst I participated in peer tutoring in school, I've also been heavily involved in volunteering. I've worked in aged care, at the Red Cross, Days for girls and RESN (Regional Education support network). These experiences have taught me how to converse with all types of people, which make me excellent at sensing students concerns and breaking down difficult ideas. These experiences also honed my organisational skills, which will aid me in planning the structures of lessons and setting out long- term goals with a student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for student is to create an environment in which they feel supported and welcomed. It is key to achieving results that you build a strong rapport with your student. If they feel judged by you and thus do not ask the questions they need to ask, it can stagnate their progress and damage their confidence in a subject.
