What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I am a teacher so I enjoy spending time with students to maximise their learning. I really enjoy the challenge of increasing student achievement and mapping a path for progress within the area of concern. It is awesome to be able to raise student confidence in their learning and support them with the tools they need to achieve academic success.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My biggest strengths are my understanding of effective pedagogical methods, my understanding of the Australian Curriculum and my strengths based attitude towards students. As a teacher I have a solid understanding of how to teach maths effectively. For example, using a Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract framework to support students in learning new concepts.
Additionally, I have a strong understanding of the Australian curriculum and what skills students need to be achieving at their level. I strongly believe that all students can and will acheive success in maths given the right tools.
Most important things I can do for a student π
- Raise achievement
- Increase academic confidence
- Provide students with the tools they need to problem solve and achieve academic success independently in the future.

Yuvaan has made good progress over the year and was able to fluently read, spell most high frequency words correctly and segment and blend different words and identify start and end sounds of words. Yuvaan could correctly identify a number between 1-20 on a number line.
Yuvaan found it difficult to produce rhyming words and connect when rhyming words are provided to him. Yuvaan still struggled with sequencing of events, but has gotten better at start and end events, and still struggles with the middle event of a sequence.
Yuvaan was able to code the long /igh/ sound which is a hard sound to decode so that was very good. He can say if 3D shapes slide, roll or stack.

Yuvaan can still get confused with the names of 3D shapes and takes a few goes to get it right. Yuvaan is still learning to form small letters and write on the lines

Yuvaan was able to accurately spell and read all the words we covered and could segment individual sounds and say how many sounds were in a word. Yuvaan was very motivated to write which was awesome and we wrote about a page of sentences about his toys.
Yuvaan got upset at not being able to write about all the toys in front of us, potentially he was sick but he may benefit from emotional regulation tools such as breathing or brain breaks

Yuvaan could decode words well, even though it was clear the book we read today was more difficult for him. He knew how to change starting sounds and knew some rhyming words. Yuvaan could count on which is a great improvement from before.
Yuvaan found it difficult to delete end sounds. When writing he would miss small words such as βmyβ and βitβsβ even after orally discussing sentence.
