What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I am a teacher so I enjoy spending time with students to maximise their learning. I really enjoy the challenge of increasing student achievement and mapping a path for progress within the area of concern. It is awesome to be able to raise student confidence in their learning and support them with the tools they need to achieve academic success.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My biggest strengths are my understanding of effective pedagogical methods, my understanding of the Australian Curriculum and my strengths based attitude towards students. As a teacher I have a solid understanding of how to teach maths effectively. For example, using a Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract framework to support students in learning new concepts.
Additionally, I have a strong understanding of the Australian curriculum and what skills students need to be achieving at their level. I strongly believe that all students can and will acheive success in maths given the right tools.
Most important things I can do for a student π
- Raise achievement
- Increase academic confidence
- Provide students with the tools they need to problem solve and achieve academic success independently in the future.

Yuvasn could decode words easily and automatically, and was able to spell words with the long /ay/ sound mostly with accuracy. He could classify 3D shapes and used counting on for the first time, showing he is making progress in numeracy moving from rote learning to understanding how to manipulate numbers using place value.
Yuvaan worked well this lesson and no next steps identified.
Dihen automatically blended and segmented sounds. He spelt all CVC and CVCC words correctly. He knew the 3D shapes names.
Dihen automatically blended and segmented sounds. He spelt all CVC and CVCC words correctly. He knew the 3D shapes names.
Dihen knew addition facts to 20 but these relied on memory rather than strategies such as counting on, so a focus on these will support him to understand and manipulate numbers going forward.
