What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy seeing a tangible change in a student's understanding and love for a subject. Seeing an all-round positive impact on a student's school life makes you feel like what you are doing is worth it. It's also fun to see various learning styles, and it's very rewarding when you try to explain a tricky topic from a different angle and they finally understand it.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
Extensive and thorough knowledge of the maths content needed by the school curriculum, and peripheral knowledge that helps answer the harder, unfamiliar questions. Since I have had a lot of experience tutoring students at school who perhaps weren't naturally high achievers, I've also had practice explaining the topics required in a very simple and easy to understand manner. No one is incapable of understanding a topic, it just hasn't been explained to them in the right way yet, so there is no point getting impatient with the student as an inadequate educatory experience is not their fault.
Most important things I can do for a student π
To motivate the student so that their learning occurs beyond the time constrained limits of the tutoring session. One or two hours a week isn't enough to excel at a subject, so the tutor must encourage and inspire the student to love learning the intricacies of the subject throughout the remainder of the week.
