What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love being able to connect with the student and then watch their progress with a topic as they go from being completely new to something to eventually fully grasping the content. Watching them dedicate time to understanding something new and then eventually having that "aha" moment is really enjoyable to watch and be a part of. I also enjoy helping students who may not thrive in a classroom environment, reach their full potential.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I think one of my biggest strengths as a tutor is my patience. I understand that many students are not going to understand the concepts on the first go and may need multiple explanations in different forms to fully grasp the concept. Being someone who was an anxious student myself, I understand how important it is to remain patient with the students and make it clear that learning new concepts is a hard thing to do and I am willing to go through and explain it as slowly or as many times as they need. I feel my ability to extend this patience and kindness is a real strength.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe that creating a true relationship and connection with the student is an incredibly important part of being a successful tutor. If the student genuinely enjoys their tutoring session they are more likely to want to continue to learn and therefore engage with the content. By building a portfolio with the student, they are more likely to ask questions that they once deemed to be silly which will lead to them being able to fully understand the concepts and content. A tutor being able to inspire students to continue pushing through hard content is a very important life skill.
