What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love tutoring because of how rewarding it's been for me personally- I love seeing the grades of my students improve, and with that, their motivation and self-confidence. I also have a genuine passion for STEM (hence my decision to study medicine!), and I enjoy being able to teach what I love as part of my job, and develop my own skills in the process.My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I have demonstrated good communication abilities, being able to break down complex ideas into simple parts students can easily understand. I was also able to use active listening skills to assess each student's individual learning style- for example, using diagrams to aid with explanations. My empathetic, friendly personality would also make me a great tutor- when I previously tutored, I received a lot of shy students. By being approachable and encouraging, celebrating their achievements and fostering their interests, I built rapport and improved motivation.Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe a great tutor goes beyond just increasing a student's marks- they are able to act as a mentor and oversee a student's education holistically. For example, I also guided one of my previous students through his year 12 year, helping him with the university admissions process and scholarship applications, where he is now studying Engineering at UNSW with a scholarship. Hence tutor's teaching should be aligned to a student's goals.
