What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I most enjoy about tutoring is helping empower students to learn in an intuitive, engaging and holistic manner. I enjoy helping teaching students not just what to think about a subject, but how to think about those subjects.
This is what I've found to help my learning personally, and I enjoy helping students achieve this same realisation much easier.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As I mentioned earlier, I believe my greatest strength in tutoring is teaching the subject in an engaging and holistic manner - rather than enforcing rote-memorisation, I try to help students achieve a deeper level of understanding that can be used to help build future knowledge.
I think I am also a good communicator, which helps in achieving the aim above, as well as keeping the parents "in the loop" as far as the plans are.
I also think that I am a very reflective person, so I will constantly review my tutoring processes and their results - this way, I can strive for constant improvement.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
First of all, the most important thing I believe a tutor can do for a student is be a good communicator and negotiator with a student - Through these two skills, the student and tutor can get on the same page regarding areas that require improvement and how to improve these.
Next, I believe a tutor can help the student through explaining concepts to them holistically and sequentially, in order to prevent students having to memorise unless absolutely necessary. It is much easier to maintain a house (collated knowledge) than a pile of bricks (memorised facts).
