What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Bringing out the most in a student. I believe the most enjoyable part of tutoring is the 'ah ha!' moment a student has when they crack something they've been behind on, or their excitement for the subject when they are given the care and attention needed for them to flourish
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe in adaptability. The ability to change the level of not just the content, but also the composition of your explanation to the students needs. I believe this adaptability can only arise from a thorough understanding of both the content and most importantly the learning process of young minds.
Ontop of this,I myself have been a student that required private tutoring during my time in high school. I am not afraid to admit I was behind during the initial half of my HSC, however, I was fortunate enough to be sent to a private tutor, who gave me the patience to show me hard work prevails
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Besides the standard (delivering content, explaining concepts etc) I believe the absolute most important thing a tutor can do for a student is provide 2 things. Self belief, and learning indepedence. I see the standard delivery of education as a given for any tutoring oppurtunity. However, going beyond and empowering a student with confidence and independence extends a tutors impact beyond the classroom, and can enhance a students learning beyond just the subject you deliver. Confidence is at the root of study discipline, I believe a student who is not confident will shy away study hardship.

Jacob picked up Pythagoras theorem extremely well with little effort. His ability he is very good to see. Though practice is still required to cement this ability. For English we commenced writing practice and completed a peel paragraph together. I noticed that Jacob is becoming more independent in his writing, and that his quality of writing is getting better and more coherent.
No comments for improvement this week, only to keep this standard up!

While at first Jacob had some difficulty recalling Indices (Term 1 content for him), with just a little bit prompting Jacob did extremely well for most questions. Jacob's independence in English is getting better, his writing time this week required the least amount of assistance I've seen from him. He is also getting better at making more independent decisions with planning his paragraphs.
Jacobs's ability to handle harder questions will require additional attention, though this may also be due fatigue as the lesson goes on.

By the end of the lesson Jacob was able to independently apply newly refreshed knowledge to harder quadrilaterial questions, his speed and accuracy was quite good given the short time frame. Jacob worked very well in expressing his deep understanding of the poetry, its lines and its messages. He also learnt how to prepare notes in an effective and structured manner, as well as best practices in exams and exam preparation.
Jacob must continue practicing this knowledge to cement it, he most definitely has the mental ability to handle these questions, however often forgets or misapplies rules. Otherwise, excellent!

Jacob's ability to recognise his mistakes and learn from them is to be recognised. Within his exam, the correct method was usually undertaken to solve a question. We also made good strides in breaking down and understanding Jacob's performance in exams. In english Jacob also was able to understand poetic concepts of context and relate them to the author's writing verbally.
As discussed, while Jacob is generally taking the right path when approaching questions, Jacob lacks confidence and certainty when finishing questions. He often feels answers may not be complete or he did not do the question correctly. This leads him to make incorrect stretches in logic and perform additional steps in questions where there are no further steps required. As today was mainly a discussion of poetry, further practice will be required for an assessment of Jacob's ability to translate poetic analysis onto paper. In saying this, Jacob has historically done well in explaining concepts by speech, however struggles formalising it on paper.
