What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Frequently, in Mathematics, many students start with the assumption that proficiency in Maths is an inherent trait β a fixed, unchangeable ability that one either has or not. Sadly, this belief often leads them to believe they have no aptitude in the subject, dampening their confidence and, in some cases, causing them to lose interest altogether. As tutors, our primary challenge is to rekindle their passion for the subject and gradually restore their confidence through consistent practice and guidance.
Witnessing the transformation of these students is the most rewarding aspect of tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
My key strengths are:
- My academic path demonstrating passion and skills in Mathematics. For example, I graduated with a First-Class Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London in 2016, with an overall total of 79.6%
- My empathy and ability to adapt to different personality with their own unique circumstances, skills and insecurities.
- My effective communication skills to break down complex concepts with clarity and simplicity.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The fundamental role of a tutor lies in empowering students. The tutor guides them throughout, but students need to feel a sense of ownership over their own progress. I firmly believe that simply providing answers and explanations right away does not serve the studentβs best interests.
Allowing the student to hold the pen, metaphorically speaking, and take ownership of their work is pivotal. Even though the tutor is present to guide and support, I believe that enabling students to feel in control of their learning process fosters a deeper sense of accomplishment.
