What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Other than helping students achieve the results they're aiming for, I value most being able to incentivise learning for the students, so it can become more enjoyable for them. In this way, the sometimes boring and tedious can become interesting and enjoyable.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I believe one of the strengths I have as a tutor are the academic skills I have learnt and applied in my electrical engineering degree at UQ. These skills I possess aid me in helping student's improve their thinking process when it comes to solving all kinds of problems.
I am also able to relate to students that are struggling to find the motivation to study, as I know what that was once like. I believe my experience will help me to further motivate their learning, other than setting a good example.
Most important things I can do for a student π
While one of the important roles a tutor plays is to help students in their understanding, I believe the most important role is to incentivise and motivate hard work, especially by setting a good example.
Tutors can only be with their students for a few hours a week, so the onus is on the student themselves to get the hard work done. The tutors role is to make this work more efficient and enjoyable through means of helping them better understand content, and finding ways to personally motivate each student to work hard.
