Being supportive. Every student is different and has a different way of catching and understanding things, you just have to be patient and supportive. I feel like growing up most teachers were boring, and could not deliver the concept or usefulness of the things that were being taught. So when I teach I make sure I deliver not only the concepts…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to equip them with the confidence they require to suceed academically. Ultimately the role of the tutor is to facilatate the child's learning. Instilling a sense of belief in the child's self will ultimately allow them to suceed in their goals. I am extremely patient. In addition my work…

Not all the students learn in the same way. A tutor must discover which is the best way to reach the students and be able to explain thing in a way they fully understand. I'm a patient person and creative to find alternatives ways to explain things when students don't…

Results. It doesn’t matter if the class is funny (I think it’s better if you can do it in this way) if you don’t get results. Just adapt to each student to get the best of him. I'm able to empathize with the student and work together to find a…

Inside Pacific PinesTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Daniel worked on unit conversions for length, volume, and mass, using real-world examples to strengthen understanding.

In Year 9, Mani tackled quadratic equations by practicing both factorising and applying the quadratic formula to solve them.

For Year 10, Waimania focused on balancing chemical equations involving double and single replacement reactions, then moved on to angles of elevation and depression in trigonometry problems.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student struggled to begin her assessment report independently, often waiting for direction rather than organizing and mapping out the required steps herself; "She should create a 'map' of everything she needs to do for her assessment." This led to confusion about what was needed and delayed progress.

In Year 8 Chemistry, a reluctance to write down working for electron configurations meant errors weren't spotted or corrected during practice questions.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 student frequently forgot to bring essential materials like calculators, slowing lesson momentum and leaving key problems unfinished by the end of each session.

Recent Achievements

One Pacific Pines tutor noticed a big shift in Waimania, a high school student who used to leave assignments until the last minute—she now starts them earlier on her own, aiming to avoid previous stress.

Daniel, also in high school, has made real progress applying index laws: where he once hesitated and missed steps, he now tackles multi-step problems independently and checks his work for errors.

Meanwhile, Tiah (Year 7) showed new initiative by identifying outliers herself after learning how to use Excel and then used that skill to make observations about her data without prompting.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Helensvale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Pacific Pines State School.
