Firstly, it is a tutor's responsibility to give the student their dollar's worth; meaning, the tutor has to be competent and is able to customize their teaching methods to the learning needs of students. Next, the tutor has to ignite the passion in every student to learn subjects that they find challenging, problematic, or boring to be…

Personalising the session to the student. If a student has a preferred and optimal way of receiving and transmitting information, it is the teachers responsibility to either utilise that pathway to allow the student to grasp concepts better, or even to open up other paths that help the students transmit information other ways. Overall…

Understand where they are at in terms of their learning abilities, providing ways for the student to best understand the material and showing them they can achieve good grades by applying themselves and trusting me to help them achieve it. Patience and understanding each student has a different way on taking in information and then processing it…

Local Reviews

Geoffs big smile and engaging personality had us hooked from the first time he walked through our door. His style of teaching really connects with Cruz as he makes Maths interesting for him and we are really looking forward to seeing the progress he will make in the future. Totally recommend Geoff to anyone with a child who is struggling in Maths.

Inside MandurahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ethan focused on solving algebraic equations and worked through linear graphs, including practice with expanding brackets.

For Year 10, Olivia completed OLNA preparation tasks and revised key features of functions using graphing exercises.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Lexie practised times tables strategies and explored patterns in multiplication to strengthen her mental maths.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 OLNA preparation, a student often skimmed questions rather than reading them fully, leading to misinterpretation and errors—"sometimes questions aren't fully read that can lead to errors in working."

In Year 11 assignments, another struggled with organization: work was only completed well after explicit direction and reminders to "finish assignment as discussed," causing delays.

For a Year 4 student, speed in times tables (6s, 7s, 8s) remained low; switching between tables disrupted focus during mental math.

When tackling worded problems in Year 8 maths, extracting key information independently proved challenging, so vital steps were sometimes missed.

Recent Achievements

A Mandurah tutor noticed a big shift with Zack (Year 10), who started out unsure about parallel and perpendicular lines but, after breaking down the process step by step, could explain the difference on his own by lesson's end.

Emily (Year 11) has begun bringing in past tests and now pinpoints exactly where she needs help—a real change from earlier sessions when she hesitated to ask questions.

Meanwhile, Jack in Year 4 used to get stuck on his times tables but recently spotted patterns in the nines and even remembered them from week to week, solving problems much faster this time.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mandurah Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mandurah Primary School.
