Software Dev Tutor Kingswood, NSW
One of the most important things I've learned while being a student within a tutoring institute is to carry out my learning indepedently. This is most prominent when studying in university when tutors are scarce and its up to you to manage your time. Learning is also really important even in the industry, particularly in software when the world is…

Inside LeonayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alexia focused on mastering the area and circumference of circles, as well as tackling composite shapes like kites and trapezoids in preparation for an upcoming test.

In Year 10, lessons with Shivani included a deep dive into Pythagoras' Theorem using targeted worksheets and also explored the properties of angles through hands-on problem sets.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student worked through advanced calculus concepts, specifically rates of change and integrals, alongside revising probability topics such as distinguishing between independent and non-mutually exclusive events.

Recent Challenges

Home practise is essential to build a foundational knowledge of every topic. A Year 10 student was encouraged to practice more at home, as without this, reminders were needed on previously covered material during sessions, which slowed progress.

In Year 12 Maths, a pattern emerged: when setting up series or using calculus, the student hesitated to plan solutions independently and often relied on hints before recalling key steps.

For HSC Physics, one senior student's attention drifted when not actively involved in calculations—leading to gaps in understanding that lingered until he was prompted to lead parts of the lesson himself.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Leonay noticed Alistair now takes the initiative to write out full calculus equations and uses his formula sheet independently—just weeks ago, he'd hesitate unless prompted.

Meanwhile, Josh (Year 11) shifted from quietly following along to actively questioning unfamiliar terms during lessons on pKa values; this change helped him clarify key concepts on his own.

At the primary level, Alexia initially struggled with dividing algebraic equations but, after practicing aloud and working through targeted examples, managed to complete similar problems by herself before time was up.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Penrith City Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Leonay Public School.
