A tutor provide the necessary help to the students which aid them in pursuing their interest easily. Moreover, a tutor can provide special attention to the child even as many times as the student needs. Even a small percent of difference can make or break one's career and a tutor can help a student to make this change obviously in the positive…

To be fully committed to helping a student achieve above and beyond their goals. Not to just teach and show them the bare minimum of what they need help with but to set them on a path that will aid them in fulfilling their future journey independently. I think setting a priority in listening and understanding the students needs as well as their…

Encourage a student to build confidence in his/her ability to learn, and praise successes, no matter how small. I have exemplary communication skills, and am patient and kind by nature, which I know to be essential in a teaching/learning environment. Prior to commencing my current degree, I was a Primary Education student for a year, therefore I…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instil in them the confidence that they will succeed. Ensuring that students have a positive and resilient mindset to learning will allow for students to continue growing and improving in the face of their struggles and difficulties. Other important things a tutor can do for a student is…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is leaving them with a range of tools for study that they can use on their own at school or if I’m not around. The student being able to use study techniques that I have taught them on their own accord is what I would aim to achieve. My strengths as a tutor would have to be my…

English Tutor Heathridge, WA
Understand how the student thinks, and how best to reach out to them so that they understand the topic most effectively, and most importantly create a fun environment where studying can be viewed as a fun activity as well. My strengths are empathy, critical thinking ability and enthusiasm for learning. I can explain one item (e.g. math problem) in…

Inside LandsdaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Olivia practised calculating surface area for cylinders and hemispheres, then applied methods for finding linear equations from two points and used simultaneous equations to locate their intersection.

Year 10 student Daniel focused on expanding and factorising algebraic expressions with single terms and reviewed index rules.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Jamie tackled vectors by finding resultant angles and directions, worked through angle properties, and represented vectors in terms of other vectors using diagrams.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student working on vectors tended to rush into questions and sometimes neglect parts of the question, as one tutor noted, leading to incomplete solutions when multiple steps were required.

In Year 10, another student over-relied on formulas without fully grasping their purpose in algebraic applications; this shortcut resulted in repeated confusion with more complex problems.

A Year 7 learner showed uncertainty with times-tables and often guessed answers rather than working them out, especially during long division exercises. These habits meant time was lost correcting preventable errors instead of building confidence with new content.

Recent Achievements

One Landsdale tutor noticed a Year 11 student who, after weeks of confusion with compound interest, managed to complete most of an investigation independently and only stumbled when key information was missing—a real step up from relying on constant guidance.

Meanwhile, a Year 10 student who previously struggled with simultaneous equations is now tackling simpler questions on her own and even trying new methods without prompting.

In primary sessions, one Year 4 student—who used to freeze at the sight of long multiplication—now finishes multi-digit problems quickly and with fewer errors than before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Girrawheen Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Landsdale Primary School.
