Physics Tutor Wellard, WA
Although it is highly important that a physics tutor teaches their students the material covered in the syllabus, it is equally as important that the tutor teaches their students the tools required to succeed in a competitive academic environment. As a tutor, I instil in my students a great work ethic, teaching them highly effective study and time…

Physics Tutor Cooloongup, WA
Fundamentally, a physics tutor must be able to pass on their knowledge to students such that they can progress academically. This should be accompanied by helping and testing the students where necessary. I prefer to break down complex concepts into smaller ideas, which can then be used as a foundation for understanding and applying the actual…

Providing individualised attention, creating a welcoming study space, and giving students the tools they need to become self-directed learners are among the most valuable services a physics tutor can provide a student. My strengths as a tutor are rooted in my dedication to self-improvement and my motivation to seek out novel approaches within my…

Physics Tutor Wandi, WA
Beyond the obvious role of a tutor helping a student understand the course content they should also equip them with critical problem solving skills and effective study habits. Tutors should encourage them to think independently and provide a structured learning approach that also develops a positive attitude towards learning. My strengths are my…

Physics Tutor Aubin Grove, WA
I consider the most important thing a tutor can do is to personalise the teaching to each student. Everyone learns differently and have different strengths and weaknesses, so it only makes sense that every student will not learn effectively from the same teaching methods. My strengths are my ability to explain concepts or formulas in a way that…

Really benefitting the student, not just by teaching them the content in the school subjects but also by teaching them about how to operate and be successful in general. For example teaching things like work ethic, scheduling, time management, how to learn efficiently, how to stay calm under pressure and stress management. I believe there is a lot…

Very impressed with the first tutoring session. Tutor was very friendly and helpful and answered any questions that i had. Was surprised with how much work was gotten through in just one hour.

Inside BertramTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alex practised solving one-variable linear equations using the backtracking method and worked on algebraic fractions.

For Year 8, Taylor revised properties of alternate, corresponding, and co-interior angles with diagrams, then classified triangles as scalene, isosceles, or equilateral.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Emily focused on graphing linear equations from worded problems and explored how to apply indices and power laws in simplifying algebraic expressions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 10 algebra, a student often said she understood balancing equations but struggled to explain the reasoning or steps when prompted—"she said she got it, but couldn't show why we balance both sides." This led to repeated confusion with isolating variables.

In Year 5 maths, another student repeatedly forgot her book at school, making it hard to review two-way tables and slowing progress.

During grammar lessons in Year 7 English, one student avoided reading definitions and guessed answers instead of engaging with feedback. This reluctance meant less time spent applying new rules and more moments of uncertainty during practice.

Recent Achievements

One Bertram tutor noticed a real shift in Nokuthaba, a high school student who used to hesitate when stuck—now she regularly asks for help the moment she's unsure and will even explain her thinking out loud, making it easier to address misunderstandings together.

Another high school win: Chase, who previously avoided reading aloud due to uncertainty, volunteered to read sentences during their grammar session and handled punctuation with much more confidence than before.

Meanwhile, Bella in Year 6 moved from needing full guidance on long division last week to solving larger problems independently by the end of this lesson.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kwinana Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bertram Primary School.
