I believe one important thing a tutor can do for a student is to teach them tools and strategies on problem-solving and help them develop independent learning skills. Another very important thing is to help the student build confidence in their ability to learn. Encouragement, support, and consistent feedback is important. It’s also essential to…

My teachers have been my second parents. Few of my school teachers are still in touch with me and we are like a family now. Throughout my education, I realised the importance of a good tutor. The reason why I loved few subjects and why I hated the few. Its practically the attitude of tutors and how they present their subject that makes a subject…

Local Reviews

Angela has been tutoring our daughter for several weeks now and we think she is amazing. We have seen a huge improvement in our daughters math work. Angela puts a lot of thought and effort into her lesson planning eg. bringing worksheets, a white board, worksheets and visuals to make things easier for our daughter to learn. Angela also has a very gentle, patient and friendly manner which is also very important to us. We are so happy with Angela and highly recommend her.

Inside AttadaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Charlotte focused on converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages as well as tackling measurement conversions such as millimetres to kilometres.

In Year 8, Olivia worked through area and circumference of circles using formulae, alongside practice with surface area and volume for composite shapes.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Ben reviewed indices rules and prime factorisation to determine if a fraction would become a recurring or terminating decimal.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student, when faced with multi-step fraction and percentage problems, hesitated to show her working—leading to confusion about which operation to use next. As a tutor noted, "she sometimes slips up with applying the correct operation (+, –, ×, ÷) to a line of working."

In Year 10 algebra lessons, another student avoided writing steps for rearranging equations; this slowed progress as small sign errors went unnoticed until checking answers at the end.

Meanwhile, missed sessions without notice (noted in Years 6 and 9) meant gaps in revision and lost opportunities for targeted feedback before upcoming tests.

Recent Achievements

One Attadale tutor noticed Poppy, a high school student, taking real initiative with algebra—she's now more comfortable rearranging equations and is starting to solve for x with less prompting than before.

Chloe, also in high school, has become much quicker at converting fractions to equivalent forms when adding or subtracting, something she used to hesitate over.

Meanwhile, Riva in primary school was excited to show off her mastery of the grid strategy for double- and triple-digit multiplication; this time, she applied it independently across several problems without needing reminders.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as AH Bracks Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Attadale Primary School.
