Additionally, tutors listen and communicate early and often with parents and teachers I am very communicative. I can attract children's attention and make the lesson much…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help faciliate and devolop an independant learning process. By this I mean helping the student to learn, by not just giving them the answer but by helping them to reach the answer on their own. This way they will be able to do similar probelms in future, without assistance, and…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is not to put more pressure on the student but make the concepts that they struggle with more easier to understand by providing examples and easier or more logical ways to approach questions. Also tutors need to make the work more fun to do (for the younger students) by having…

Inside AlbionTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 11 student Alex explored motion on an inclined plane by breaking down gravity into components and calculated net force, also examining the effects of drag force and tension direction in physics problems.

For Year 10, Jamie completed a practice maths exam focused on algebraic manipulation and worked through challenging linear graphs using step-by-step solutions.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Ben revised perimeter for circular shapes and practiced addition and subtraction using algorithms to improve speed and accuracy.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student working through algebra repeatedly hesitated to write out steps, instead relying on mental calculation; as one tutor noted, "she skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors."

In VCE Maths Methods, a Year 11 student leaned heavily on memorizing formulas but struggled when asked to apply them or use the CAS calculator efficiently.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student often left homework incomplete and avoided tricky fraction questions—resulting in missed opportunities for feedback and growth.

During exam prep, a Year 9 learner second-guessed answers and needed reassurance before moving forward. This led to lost time retracing old ground rather than building new skills.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Albion noticed a Year 12 student who once needed to write out every circular function step now solving advanced trigonometry problems mentally and much faster than before.

Another high schooler recently started asking questions when stuck, rather than sitting quietly—last session, she worked through several challenging factorisation tasks using new strategies without prompting.

In a younger class, one student who used to rush maths problems has begun double-checking answers after learning from past mistakes; this time, he caught and corrected his own error on the number line activity before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Brimbank Libraries—or at your child's school (with permission), like Albion Primary School.
