What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love seeing my students progressing in their understanding, getting more confident in a topic after every practice question they do, and getting excited when they get the questions right. It always feels amazing when students finally understand a topic they had been struggling with. I also love that I get to build my communication skills and also learn to be more understanding of everyone’s different paces of learning, and being flexible according to that.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a Math tutor, one of my strength is in the subject itself, as over time I have learned many different methods to solve different problems, which I can teach to my students so they will have a range of options of methods to use. Thus, the students can simply choose the method they are most confident with. As a tutor overall, one of my strengths is I empathize with my students. I always encourage my students in a positive and constructive way, know when to praise their achievements, as well as know when to let them know what they need improvement in, and also comfort them when they feel down.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think that the most important thing a tutor can do is being flexible and adaptable to students’ needs. Every student will have different learning approach preferences, different pacing, different length of focus, different strengths and weaknesses. We as tutors will need to be able to teach on a faster pace with more up-skilled students, and slower when needed. Tutors need to understand the students’ needs and adjust the learning material order according to that. Tutors will also need to be patient when teaching a student, to make sure that they understand everything before moving on.
