Psychology Tutor Wandana Heights, VIC
It is important that tutors take measures to understand a student's strengths and weaknesses within a subject and to ensure their advice is suited to these capabilities. Tutoring should directly meet a student's needs, rather than implementing a one size fits all approach. A tutor should also supply a student with resources and advice that will…

Psychology Tutor Geelong West, VIC
A tutor’s most important role is to support and guide the student’s learning in a way that builds their confidence. It’s not just about explaining content, but about creating a safe space where the student feels comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A tutor should encourage independence by teaching strategies that help the…

Inside North ShoreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Phoebe focused on revision of indices ahead of an upcoming exam, working through targeted practice questions.

Year 10 student Isaac tackled both Pythagoras' Theorem and introductory trigonometry concepts, then moved into quadratic equations with a focus on factorising techniques.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Georgia explored differentiation using the chain rule and also practised applying derivatives to power functions, strengthening her calculus fundamentals through worked examples.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 algebra, one student often avoided showing working when factorising quadratics—"she solved it mentally but missed errors with signs," the tutor noted. This habit made mistakes harder to catch and fix before moving on.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student preparing for trigonometry and significant figures relied heavily on notes rather than committing key formulas to memory, which slowed problem-solving during timed drills.

In primary maths, a Year 4 learner sometimes guessed division answers instead of writing out steps; this led to confusion when reviewing tricky questions later in the lesson.

Recent Achievements

A North Shore tutor recently noticed a big shift in Phoebe, a high school student who used to struggle with indices and surds—she now tackles those problems confidently without needing extra sessions.

Another win from the notes: after regular work on exponential growth and compound interest, Phoebe has started clarifying her own misunderstandings instead of waiting for help.

At the primary level, one student who was hesitant to engage is now showing much more focus during lessons and sticks with practice questions even when they get tricky, something that rarely happened before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Corio Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Northern Bay P-12 College-Tallis Street P-8 Campus.
