Engineering Studies Tutor Mirrabooka, WA
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to build their full confidence. Knowledge can bring confidence and strength to a person. It would be their foundation to trust themselves, be confident, be happy and be satisfied with their lives. We as tutor our extended parents of the students. A person they can depend and rely on. My…

Inside LexiaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Rueben worked on simplifying algebraic expressions and the correct use of brackets, then practised collecting like terms and manipulating powers within equations.

For Year 10, Jonathan focused on factorising complex algebraic terms and also revised solving quadratics using the null factor law.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Stephan reviewed sketching polynomial functions with attention to domain and range, as well as applying transformations to various function types using visual diagrams.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9 maths, incomplete homework was an issue: "didn't do all the homework I assigned," which limited the chance to reinforce checking answers and slowed progress with fractions and interest equations.

A Year 11 student, after failing a test, continued to make errors in term manipulation but did not consistently use feedback to correct basic algebra misunderstandings.

Messy or unclear written work appeared during bracket expansion tasks ("work on reducing minor errors by taking closer care of work, and setting work out neatly"), making it harder to catch mistakes before they repeated across topics.

Recent Achievements

One Lexia tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now openly clarifies tricky algebra steps mid-session, especially when tackling quadratic graphing—something he used to skip.

In a recent high school biology lesson, another student surprised her tutor by explaining neuron function in detail without prompts, a big shift from last term's single-word answers.

Meanwhile, during a Year 5 maths session, a younger student who'd struggled with homework follow-through completed and corrected his assigned problems independently before the lesson began.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ballajura Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Ellenbrook Christian College.
