Software Dev Tutor Cooloongup, WA
Fundamentally, a tutor must be able to pass on their knowledge to students such that they can progress academically. This should be accompanied by helping and testing the students where necessary. I prefer to break down complex concepts into smaller ideas, which can then be used as a foundation for understanding and applying the actual…

Software Dev Tutor Hammond Park, WA
First and foremost, a tutor has to gel up with the student, make him/her comfortable. Once that is done, the teaching method adopted must be interesting, with must include examples from daily life so that the student can relate to it easily. Moreover, a diagrammatic approach must be used while teaching, since, children tend to remember pictures…

Inside KwinanaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Lily focused on perimeter, area, and volume calculations, along with applying Pythagoras' theorem to solve for unknown sides.

In Year 9, Jack worked through algebraic fractions and rules of indices, as well as finding total surface area and volume of solids.

For Year 10, Sam practised graphing parabolas by identifying turning points and axis of symmetry, plus explored transformations including dilation and reflection using worked examples.

Recent Challenges

A recurring issue across several year levels was a reluctance to write out working, especially in Years 7 and 10 mathematics—"needs to write out working out instead of just doing it in her head," one tutor noted, after errors appeared during algebra practice.

Messy or cramped written work also caused problems; a Year 9 student needed "more space when she writes her equations," making mistakes harder to spot.

In senior chemistry, forgetting to consistently write formulas led to confusion with units and conversions.

During Year 11 test preparation, the pressure of unfamiliar questions sometimes left students unable to recall methods without step-by-step notes in front of them.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Kwinana recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to rely heavily on hints now tackling trigonometry problems independently, even describing each step aloud before checking her answers.

In a high school session, another student who previously scored 40% on her maths test achieved 60% this time and could confidently explain how she solved area questions without waiting for guidance.

Meanwhile, a younger student who was hesitant with addition now completes sums accurately using his fingers—a big shift from earlier sessions where mistakes were common.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kwinana Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Calista Primary School.
