Help them become enthusiastic about learning, and change how they see what they are capable of. I am good at improving a students ability to learn. As someone who has ADHD, I have found ways at managing my time and efforts that are both very effective in achieving consistently outstanding results, and sustainable, which my students can apply not…

I feel that the most important skills a tutor can develop in a student is their self worth and confidence. Tutors should provide Support, guidance, assistance, raise student confidence and provide a safe environment where the student is able to take risks and experience success. Having school and industry experience as well as being a primary and…

According to me, it is to be open and provide a comfortable environment to the students, where they can study and share their thoughts without hesitating. Apart from this, it is to make learning a fun process by teaching in a more fun way, this includes doing different activities to make children understand the concepts, etc. I do possess great…

A tutor has to be able to accomodate to each students need individually. It's important to understand the needs and habits of each student as each person learns uniquely. I believe that a tutor can provide valuable help and support for their student. Since they have already done the coursework, they are able to assist their student with the same work. Furthermore, since they have personally been through the experiences similar to that of their student, tutors are able to understand the difficulties experienced by…

Improving confidence in a student's ability, I believe, is the most important thing a tutor can do for a student. Confidence will not only transfer into their class but in almost all aspects of their life. The confidence and belief a student has in themselves is priceless and I aim to achieve a high level of self-belief with all my students. I am…

Inside CullacabardeeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Lily practised solving linear equations and interpreting probability scenarios, using real-life examples to strengthen understanding.

For Year 9, Ahmed worked on expanding and simplifying algebraic expressions with negatives, as well as reviewing sequence patterns from recent classwork.

In Year 10, Sienna tackled trigonometry problems involving bearings and applied Pythagoras' theorem to multi-step questions, focusing on accurate diagram interpretation.

Recent Challenges

In Year 7, one student's notes showed a tendency to skip writing out steps in algebra—he often left working blank, which made it hard to spot where the error happened.

For a Year 9 exam revision session, another relied heavily on worked examples and struggled when asked to solve questions independently, indicating over-reliance on prior solutions instead of building confidence with unfamiliar problems.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner repeatedly avoided showing working for division and long multiplication, leading to confusion during multi-step word problems. This led to repeated errors going unnoticed until review time.

Recent Achievements

One Cullacabardee tutor recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to wait for prompts now tackling exam prep questions independently, even explaining her strategies out loud as she worked.

In Year 7 maths, another student who once hesitated with decimals has started correcting mistakes herself and confidently identifies tenths and hundredths on number lines.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student in the area has gone from struggling with time-telling to finishing both her school worksheet and extra division practice without needing reminders—she even volunteered to try harder subtraction problems this week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ballajura Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Illawarra Primary School.
